Toll Group invests S$6.8 million in solar panels across Singapore

Toll Group announced today an investment of S$6.8 million for the installation of over 10,000 solar panels at three of its facilities in Singapore.

Monocrystalline solar panels are being installed at the head office on Clementi Loop, the Toll City warehousing fulfillment and distribution facility in Tuas, and the Toll Offshore Petroleum Services (TOPS) facility in Loyang.

The solar panels are part of Toll Group’s broader sustainability strategy, which aims to transition to 100 per cent renewable electricity across all its properties globally by 2030. This initiative also supports Singapore’s Green Plan to quadruple solar energy deployment by 2025.

Toll Group Managing Director, Mr Alan Beacham, said, “Sustainability is a cornerstone of Toll’s environment, social and governance strategy and our broader efforts to reduce our environmental impact, globally. The solar panels will harness green energy to power our daily operations, including our air-conditioned storage warehouses and utilities. This investment demonstrates our commitment to operating in a socially responsible manner while continuing to deliver high-quality services for our customers and the communities in which we serve.

“We are leading by example and making the investments to drive down Toll’s emissions footprint – in Singapore and globally.

“More broadly, Toll plans to transition its existing facilities across the world to renewable energy by 2030, with all newly-built facilities to be designed, constructed and certified to green building ratings with in-country affiliated bodies to the World Green Building Council by 2025”, Mr Beacham said.

Each year, the solar panels will reduce close to 3,000 tons of CO2 across the three sites and generate almost 7,000,000 kWh of energy, equivalent to powering almost 20,000 homes in Singapore.

Toll will install electric vehicle charging stations across sites in Singapore to support the transition to electric vehicles, in line with Singapore's sustainability and environmental goals.

The solar panels are expected to be fully activated by the end of April 2023.
