Toll ETS Charge Effective 1 October 2025

In the second implementation phase of the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), carriers are now liable for charges on 70% of their emissions.
Carriers have announced different levels of ETS fees to recover this cost, which we have averaged for a simplified fee structure. The Toll ETS fees tabled below, subject to adjustment in the event carriers make significant changes, apply to:
- shipments booked with sailing dates between 1 October 2025-31 December 2025
- containers that are loaded and/or unloaded in countries within the European Economic Area1 and the United Kingdom

In response to climate change and global warming, the European Union (EU) implemented the “EU Emissions Trading System (ETS)” to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. From 1 January 2024, the EU ETS fee applies to vessels over 5,000 gross tonnage sailing to, from, and between EU ports.
Carriers have announced different levels of ETS fees to recover this cost, which we have averaged for a simplified fee structure. The Toll ETS fees tabled below, subject to adjustment in the event carriers make significant changes, apply to:
- shipments booked with sailing dates between 30 September 2024 and 31 December 2024
- containers that are loaded and/or unloaded in countries within the European Economic Area1 and the United Kingdom
