Super Typhoon Champi: Operational update

We are closely monitoring Super Typhoon Champi and its potential impact on forwarding operations.

Based on current information:

  • Fujian, including Xiamen and Fuzhou: Emergency Response Level IV has been announced; terminal operations remain normal.
  • Ningbo, Zhejiang: Terminal operations are expected to close from the afternoon or evening of 23 October until around noon or afternoon on 25 October.
  • Shanghai: Terminal operations are expected to close during 24 October until around noon or afternoon on 25 October.
  • Taiwan: 
    • Keelung and Taipei ports are expected to close from 0000h on 23 October.
    • Kaohsiung is not expected to be impacted.
    • Flight cancellations are likely, with airline announcements expected on 23 October.
    • The government is expected to announce this evening whether 23 October will be a no-school/no-work day.

Depending on the storm’s track and local conditions, potential impacts may include vessel schedule changes, port omissions, congestion and delays.
