Congestion at Nhava Sheva and Mundra Ports

Toll Global Forwarding is advising customers of ongoing congestion at Nhava Sheva (JNPT, BMCT, NSICT, NSIGT and APMT) and Mundra (MICT) ports that may affect export and import container movements.

Current situation
Nhava Sheva and Mundra are experiencing congestion due to a combination of factors, including:

  • Build-up of transshipment container volumes across terminals.
  • Extended vehicle turnaround times at terminals and container freight stations due to shortages of trailer drivers and transport equipment.
  • Traffic congestion on key port access roads and in surrounding logistics areas.

Operational impacts
As a result, customers may experience:

  • Delays in moving containers from factories or container freight stations to port terminals.
  • Extended transit times for import and export container movements.
  • Limited trailer availability at short notice.
  • Higher transportation and operational costs due to extended vehicle detention and waiting times.
  • Challenges in meeting vessel cut-offs, particularly for late bookings.

We are working closely with transport providers, container freight stations, terminals and shipping lines to minimise disruption, and will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
