Toll Group has released its 2025 Impact Report, making a year of transition, growth, and continued momentum in its sustainability journey. The report highlights significant progress in embedding sustainability across operations, governance, and culture, underpinned by ambitious decarbonisation goals and strengthened by Japan Post’s commitment to the Science Based Target initiatives (SBTi).
Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) was a pivotal year for Toll Group, moving from strategy launch to execution. Our parent company, Japan Post, took a bold step toward climate leadership by submitting a formal commitment letter to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This pledge sets near-term targets for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions across all major subsidiaries, including Toll, laying the foundation for an ambitious decarbonization journey.
Key achievements include:
- Development of a decarbonisation roadmap: In September 2024, Toll presented to the Board a comprehensive roadmap outlining clear pathways to reduce emissions across our fleet and properties. This plan strengthens data integrity and accelerates the integration of sustainable technologies such as electric vehicles and solar energy into operations.
- The preparation for battery electric heavy vehicles: Work commenced to support the roll out of battery electric heavy vehicles and installation of charging infrastructure across the network, supported by a $67 million investment co-funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) under its Driving the Nation program.
- Updated ESG materiality assessment: The assessment confirmed strong alignment between internal priorities and stakeholder expectations. Climate action, employee wellbeing, and responsible supply chains remained core focus areas, while biodiversity, circular economy, and ethical procurement emerged as growing priorities.
"Our people remain at the heart of our progress”, said Nureen Shariff, Head of Sustainability Transformation, Toll Group. “From strengthening safety culture and wellbeing programs to advancing our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, we are committed to building an inclusive and equitable future.”
Governance enhancements, including improved cybersecurity and data integrity, underscore Toll’s commitment to resilience and transparency.
“As we look ahead, sustainability is not a fixed destination but a dynamic journey of learning, collaboration, and innovation,” Nureen Shariff added. “Together, we are building a logistics network that not only moves the world but helps shape a better one".
