Toll Aviation is proud to announce its newly established partnership with the South Australian Government to deliver the state’s emergency aerial fleet from November 2027. This collaboration will not only strengthen South Australia’s emergency response capabilities but also create meaningful employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians, through partnerships with Gunggandji Aerospace and the Indigenous Defence and Infrastructure Consortium (IDIC).

The partnership will see the development of a state-of-the-art operations centre near Adelaide Airport, staffed by a team recruited by Gunggandji and IDIC. This marks Gunggandji’s first entry into South Australia’s aviation sector and sets a new benchmark for collaborative, community led aviation services in Australia.

“This partnership is about more than aviation; it’s about creating opportunities that make a real difference in people’s lives,” said Scott Watkins, Senior Vice President, Toll Aviation. “By working with Gunggandji Aerospace and IDIC, we’re helping Indigenous South Australians build skills, careers, and a sense of pride in delivering critical emergency services for their communities. It’s a powerful example of how collaboration can drive both social and operational outcomes.”

Recruitment for five full-time roles will begin in the New Year, with Toll providing training, systems integration, and operational support to ensure the team is fully prepared ahead of the centre’s launch in November 2026.

This new emergency response service reflects Toll’s commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence, introducing modern aviation technology that will significantly enhance outcomes for South Australian communities. Over time, the partnership is expected to strengthen the aviation sector while creating sustainable opportunities for Indigenous workforce development, delivering social impact alongside technical excellence.
