Toll Group today announced that Alan Beacham will step down from his role as Group Managing Director, effective July 1.
Thomas Knudsen, currently Toll Group Chairman, has been appointed Executive Chairman in the interim to provide continuity while the Board concludes the search for a new Group Managing Director.
Mr Beacham has held multiple roles at Toll over the last seven years, including President of Toll Global Express where he led a turnaround and then the sale of the division.
He has served as Managing Director for the past three years, during which he successfully guided the company through challenging times, including stabilising and rebuilding the business in the aftermath of two cyberattacks and the impact of COVID-19, before turning around the performance of the Australian business and implementing key initiatives for growth in Asia.
"On behalf of the Board, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Alan Beacham for his leadership and commitment to Toll. During his tenure, Alan reset Toll’s strategy, led a successful productivity program, lifted engagement and delivered improved financial results. Alan’s work has set a strong foundation for Toll’s future," Mr Knudsen said.
Under Mr Beacham’s leadership, Toll has achieved several noteworthy accomplishments, including:
- A 50% improvement in safety performance
- Implementing programs to improve sustainability, diversity and lift engagement
- A 37% increase in profitability
- The expansion of Toll’s global warehouse footprint by more than 250,000 sqm.
- Four acquisitions, including the air ambulance services provider, Pel Air in Australia; Cross Freight in Bangladesh; CWT-SML
Logistics in Dubai, and drone business, Air Support Queensland.
Mr Beacham stated, "It has been a privilege to lead Toll Group as Managing Director. Toll has great people and great customers. I'm proud of the progress we have made, and I look forward to seeing Toll move from strength to strength.”
“Toll has a strong team that is dedicated to delivering value to the customers, stakeholders, and communities we serve,” Mr Knudsen said.
