Toll Group and NS BlueScope Malaysia yesterday signed a five-year service extension after 17 outstanding years of partnership. As part of this extension, the two companies announced the go-live of six newly acquired state-of-the-art Mercedes Benz Actros prime movers and Zenith trailers at the NS BlueScope plant in Kapar, Klang. This RM6 million (~A$2.1 million) investment represents a significant advantage for NS Bluescope’s operations in Malaysia.

Country President of NS Bluescope Malaysia, Mr Koh Boon Hong, and Executive General Manager of Toll Group Asia – Global Logistics division, Mr Victor Tan, cut the ribbon together with their senior management teams to signify the launch of the fleet.

Toll Group is committed to growth in Asia. Along with the investment in assets, the team has also hired and trained additional manpower to drive the new fleet, expanding the existing NS Bluescope Malaysia service fleet by 25% to a total of 26 dedicated prime movers and increased-payload trailers.

At both Toll Group and NS Bluescope, safety is paramount as we work towards creating roads and workplaces free of incidents and injuries.

This guiding principle led Toll Group to fit these latest Mercedes Benz Actros 2644 LS Flyer prime movers with cutting edge hi-tech safety systems, including facial recognition fatigue protection, telematics tracking solutions and stabilisers along with a series of additional safety enhancements.

Mr Tan said, “We are delighted to extend this important partnership with NS BlueScope for the next five years. A modern fleet is an important component for a safe and efficient supply chain, and Toll is an industry-leader when it comes to road safety. Our latest generation Mercedes-Benz Actros prime movers and Zenith trailers are perfectly suited for NS BlueScope’s operations in Malaysia. The vehicles will provide state-of the-art safety features and enhanced operational capability to better support NS BlueScope’s success and reflect Toll’s ongoing investment in this market.”

Mr. Koh said, “In our business, our partners are vital to us and for the past 17 years we have depended on Toll Group to deliver our goods on-time and in good condition – from our overseas factories to our plants in Kapar and Klang, and onwards to our customers nationwide. We admire their focus on the safety of their employees, their innovative ideas and approach and their compliance in corporate governance. My team and I are looking forward to further strengthen our working relationship with them again”.
