Toll Port of Burnie

Construction starts on $35 million Port of Burnie upgrade

Toll operates a sea-freight service that provides a vital link between Tasmania and mainland Australia.

The service runs twice daily from Monday to Saturday, supporting the local economy by helping Tasmanian businesses to reach interstate and international markets. Equally, the service provides Tasmanian consumers with goods from across all Australian States and Territories.

From 1 March 2019, our ships will be replaced by two new, larger ships with capacity to carry 40 per cent more cargo. The ships will boost our capacity to support the Bass Strait trade, will bring state-of-the-art technology and environmental management systems that will allow us to meet more stringent requirements in the future.

Work has started on upgrades to the wharves and terminals at Burnie and Webb Dock, Port Melbourne. Download the Frequently Asked Questions to understand more about the upgrade at Burnie and visit the Port of Melbourne website to understand more about the upgrade at Webb Dock.
