Toll partners with Australian Red Cross to provide time-critical transportation of blood and organs via our extensive regional networks.
The Australian Red Cross Blood Service (ARCBS) is a not-for-profit organisation forming part of the Australian Red Cross. The ARCBS is responsible for providing the Australian community with safe, life-saving products such as blood, blood products, organs and bone marrow.
The Challenge
The transportation of blood and blood products is a critical service that is highly regulated. After donation, blood products must be tested and processed within 24 hours owing to their limited shelf life. These products are collected from over 500,000 voluntary donors at 1,062 sites across Australia.
The Solution
Toll operates Australia’s leading time critical distribution network with unparalleled coverage across regional Australia. In order to meet the challenges faced by transporting such a time-sensitive product, Toll also transports blood to the blood bank in each capital city upon its arrival at our air depots.
The Results
We are able to provide the ARCBS with critical turn around times preserving the shelf life and the integrity of the product.
