When The Australian Ballet made the decision to lower the final curtain after 30 years in its Kensington Warehouse, Toll was engaged as lead role for logistics and transportation in the relocation to a new custom-built warehouse in Melbourne, Australia.
The relocation meant the removal of 30,000 garments, a collection dating back to the company’s first performance in 1962, comprising delicate tutus and bulky coats through to arm puffs and headpieces.
The collection also included props and sets from The Australian Ballet’s shows all of which were housed on three floors of a 100 year old former wool store.
Toll provided a relocation solution for The Australian Ballet, which included the relocation of the costume store and staging department, using two 40’ tautliner vehicles to move the large sets to their new Altona home.
For the costumes, metal piping was temporarily installed throughout the old warehouse allowing for the garments to be guided along all the way from the third floor down the three flights of stairs and directly into the back of the waiting Toll trucks.
Toll's effort meant the costumes, props and sets were all re housed and neatly categorised in the new 12,000sqm warehouse ahead of schedule.
