Toll has traditionally acted as a recruitment agency for businesses within Australia. However, that all changed when we were asked for help in finding key management staff in South Africa.
Toll was invited to recruit eight key positions for our African operations, a market in which we had no prior recruitment experience.
The Toll team was quick to rise to the challenge and immediately started researching a new recruitment methodology to suit the local requirements.
After only a few weeks Toll had established a shortlist for the positions advertised, and our recruitment manager was on route to Johannesburg to conduct face to face interviews.
Our recruitment manager spent almost two weeks in South Africa establishing a network of key contacts in the remote logistics field, whilst shortlisting and reference checking for the key roles to be based in Johannesburg.
After successfully filling a number of key management roles in Johannesburg, we were given another challenge - a project to recruit people in Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian project was a little different, relying on recruiting candidates from Australia, Asia and Africa for fly in, fly out work. The Toll team successfully managed this project from both the time spent in Johannesburg and from the Brisbane offices.
Toll has now successfully recruited 18 key positions across Africa, including South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo and Ethiopia.
