The Toll business was founded in Newcastle, Australia in 1888 by Albert Toll when he began hauling coal by horse and cart. From these modest beginnings, a global transport and logistics company was born.
A substantial program of growth, expansion and strategic acquisition began in earnest in the late 1980s, and in 1993, Toll listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX).
In February 2015, Toll’s Board announced that it had accepted a proposal from Japan Post to acquire all of Toll’s shares. Japan Post was looking to Toll to spearhead its global operations. On 28 May 2015, Toll formally became a division of Japan Post after an acquisition process that was overwhelmingly supported by Toll’s Board and its shareholders.
Today we’re a leading logistics provider across Asia Pacific, operating a network of some 1,200 sites across more than 50 countries throughout the world.

And our global network spans strategic road, air, sea and rail routes – we operate thousands of scheduled and charter services every day of the week. Harnessing our resources across this network enables us to deliver optimal logistics solutions for our customers.
These solutions can range from global logistics delivering 3PL solutions across our global footprint, international and domestic freight transport services, distribution and warehouse services through to remote and resource logistics, aviation and port & maritime services, specialised business support solutions such as relocation management and recruitment services, and domestic and international parcel and document delivery services.
